Herbal Medication

Herbal medication can more accurately be called herbal supplements. These supplements are not regulated as medications are and most, if not all, have not been tested for specific medical conditions.

Some people like to take herbal supplements because they think that they are safer than synthetic medications. This is not necessarily true. Just because herbal supplements are natural does not mean that they are safe. They can have side effects and interact with other things just as other medications can.

You should find out as much as you can before taking herbal supplements. The labels on their packaging may not list all that is in the bottle.

As with any drug, consult your doctor before you begin taking herbal medication. These supplements may be beneficial but can also cause harm.
